Long before mankind was even a glimmer in Gaia's eye, two factions fought for control over
the entire galaxy - the QaAni of the outer fringes and the Kentron Alliance of the core. In
the final conflict, the QaAni were completely destroyed and the Alliance was decimated,
only the most backwater of their colonies surviving. Now, one of those colonies, the icy
world of Risst, has become a mighty empire in its own right, constantly looking for new
acquisitions; a planet in the QaAni homespace has brought forth its own sentient life;
and one of that species has found remnants of the ancient race's technology...
